Hello and welcome!

Smart Money Babe is owned, operated, and written solely by me,  Sandee K.   I write about money because it has been a major factor in my life, usually not in the most positive way.  I am a firm believer that the difficult times we experience in life teach us the most.  There is much wisdom to be gained when we have hit our rock bottom and our backs our against the wall. That was me, financially speaking just a few years ago.

I am not by any means a financial advisor or expert. I simply have learned a lot about money the HARD way. I have made plenty of mistakes with my money over the years but I have also learned a too. I plan on sharing with all of you what I have learned by turning my financial life around. Learn from my mistakes as well as the successes that have helped me become a Smart Money Babe.

This blog is written from my point of view (with inspiration from experts like Suze Orman and Dave Ramsey) so it is geared mostly towards the semi-Young, semi-Broke, and totally Fabulous. I invite readers from all walks of life, male or female, young or experienced, rich or poor. But to all of the fellas reading, I hope you don’t mind seeing posts announcing free samples of tampons or super deals on make-up. 5 Simple Steps to Becoming a Smart Money Babe:

1. Become a Drugstore Diva!

Learn to play the drugstore game and save huge on everyday items. You will be amazed to learn how many products you use everyday can be yours for free thanks to CVS and Walgreens. 2. Fall in love with coupons!

If you have tried using coupons in the past but gave up because it didn’t seem worth it, you aren’t alone.  Many others, myself included experienced the very same thing.  But, I highly encourage you to try again. Once you realize how much money you can truly save with the right coupon methods, you might not be so reluctant to pull out those scissors.

3. Save like it’s going out of style.

Suze Orman knows what she is talking about when she says that true financial harmony is achieved when your pleasure for saving equals or exceeds your pleasure for spending. Living paycheck to paycheck is NO WAY to live. Vow to do everything in your power to avoid living this way. Start saving today, no matter how little the amount.  Even though I was very good at saving when I  first started earning money, that quickly started to change as I made more money.  I learned the life lesson that the more you make, the more you spend.

4. Increase Your Earning Power.

Figure out how you can make more money at your current job, or find a better paying one.  Think of creative ways you can supplement your income.

5. Get Organized.

If you want to manage your money better, you need to get organized. If you want to save money and make a little extra on the side, you must get organized.
