Dave Ramsey: Another Member of My Economic Advising Team

Dave Ramsey

In a previous article, I revealed the first person on my team of economic advisors, Suze Orman.

Now, I would like to introduce you to my second economic advisor, Dave Ramsey. I first heard about Dave from my brother and have been tuning in for a couple years now.
On his call-in shows, Dave offers practical, no nonsense advice for getting and staying out of debt. He coined the phrase with gazelle intensity in regards to the level of commitment people need to have in order to get out of debt.
Dave Ramsey believes in never borrowing money from anyone. He advocates owing no one anything but love. He is a huge fan of coupons, second jobs (especially as pizza delivery drivers – he says the cash is great, I still want to see for myself one day), and living debt free.

The advice that Dave offers is simple but powerful. He guides his audience who are facing financial crises to take care of the necessities first: shelter, lights, and food. He credits his financial advice to the likeness of a Grandma. Save your money, do everything you can to get and stay out of debt, and don’t buy what you can’t afford.

One of Ramsey’s favorite philosophies is to live like no one else now so later you can really live like no one else. Living on a tight budget, working two jobs, clipping coupons, and going without cable TV and other modern luxuries in order to get out of debt and start building real wealth is an example of this.

Dave’s advice is worth his weight in gold. If you don’t already, I highly suggest that you tune into his show once in a while. You can find his television show on the Fox Business Channel or for free on Hulu.com. listen to his radio show.  I also recommend Dave’s Financial Peace University course available at churches all across the nation. I plan on enrolling in this course as soon as my budget allows.
