My Economic Advisors: #1 Suze Orman
by admin on January 16, 2009
Recently, President-elect Obama chose his team of economic advisors. We should all have a team of economic advisors to help us in our journey to financial freedom. During the coming weeks, I will be highlighting my economic advisors. This week, I begin my list with the first person who got me interested in money,
Suze Orman.
Money Guru, Suze Orman
Suze is the first person who got me interested in learning about money. She is a wealth of knowledge, a true money guru. Her main beliefs are simple: People first, then money, then things. She loathes credit card debt, whole life, universal, and variable life insurance.
However, she does recognize good uses for credit cards. Credit cards, if used correctly, can build up your credit score.
Orman is adamant about having an emergency fund in an interest-bearing savings account. She insists that it is necessary to have an emergency fund that will cover all of your expenses for at least eight months. Owning a home outright is one of Suze’s top commandments.
Watch
The Suze Orman Show on TV every Saturday night on CNBC. I watch her show a lot. I always learn something when I watch it. The best part is the
Can I Afford It? segment of the show where viewers call in to ask if they can afford an item they desire. It amazes me to hear how much money the people make who call in to the show. I always wonder what the heck those people do for a living to make the kind of money that they do.
